Notes
taken from the Wedding Certificate
of Elizabeth Fouldes & John Gibbins
The following is from the notes by James Fouldes (husband of Kathleen Lawson):
"Elizabeth Fouldes
married John Gibbins on 16th July 1837.
Note that her father was James Fouldes, Millwright (James is a very popular
name on the Fouldes line).
Now, I believe that James Fouldes was probably my Great, Great, Great Grandfather
and that Elizabeth was sister to my Great, Great Grandfather John.
Certainly the name James
is right - but the inconsistency is that he is described
as a Labourer on my Great, Great Grandfather's Marriage Certificate.
On the other hand, in those days, trades passed from father to son and Millwright
or Wheelwright fits
in with both my
Great, Great and Great forebears and, as we see later on, trades could change".
